Recurring bookings

Recurring bookings create a series from one booking form. They are useful for weekly team meetings, monthly reviews, teaching periods, and other regular events.

Create a series

When recurrence is available:

  1. Create a booking normally.
  2. Enable the repeat option.
  3. Choose the recurrence pattern and interval.
  4. Set the series end date.
  5. Review the generated dates and save.

The exact patterns offered depend on the configured calendar mode.

Monthly positions

MRBS distinguishes between a numbered weekday and the last weekday of a month.

  • Fifth Monday creates an occurrence only in months that contain five Mondays.
  • Last Monday uses the fourth Monday when a month has only four.

The same distinction applies when counting backward from the end of the month.

Conflicts and limits

Every generated occurrence is checked. A series can fail when:

  • one or more dates conflict with an existing booking;
  • an occurrence violates an area policy;
  • the series exceeds the configured maximum number of entries; or
  • the requested end date is outside the allowed booking window.

MRBS 1.12.2 defaults to a maximum of 366 generated entries. Administrators can change $max_rep_entrys, but should keep a practical limit to prevent accidental large series.

Change or delete a series

When editing or deleting a repeated booking, MRBS distinguishes between a single occurrence and the series.

Use a single-occurrence change for an exception such as a moved meeting. Change the series when the schedule itself has changed.

Warning

Before deleting or substantially changing a long-running series, verify whether individual occurrences have already been modified. A series-wide action may affect more bookings than intended.
